Joey Gotuaco

Joey was introduced to aircraft financing in 2009 and was immediately drawn to aviation.  Cultivating a new passion, he went on to earn his wings as a private pilot in 2012, and enjoys not only the thrill of flying but also the camaraderie among GA pilots.  Joey served on the board of an investment company that once owned Piper Aircraft, and founded a finance company dedicated to the financing of its planes, called Piper Capital.

Joey’s work with AirFleet revolves around advising the company and its management about the development of new products and new markets.  He is currently Executive VP and CFO of Bank of the Philippine Islands, a full-service commercial bank based in Manila, Philippines.  Joey obtained his undergraduate and master degrees in the United States, and worked in New York City, Hong Kong, and Singapore–all in the banking sector–prior to his involvement in aviation in 2009.

Favorite Airplane:  The Piper Cherokee, because it taught me how to fly.

Best Aviation Moment:   My first solo, because there’s nothing like being up there on your own—for the first time.

Words I live by:  Rules are important, but it’s the relationship that counts.

Where I got my start:  Manila.  Like Steve, up at 4:30 am, but here it’s 40 degrees (C) above zero.

Outside of the office:  Time with my wife, Angela, daughter, Isabelle, and anything outdoors.
